Lingerie

Lingerie, also known as women’s undergarments is a French word meaning linen. The provocative, alluring and fashionable garments can be sheer, stretchy or flexible made of nylon, cotton, silk, satin and lace. In French, the word Lingerie means linen and can refer to undergarments for female or male, but women wear most. At times, the clothing can be erotic, sexy or appealing.

Sexy lingerie is always a plus when you are about to witness something as rough as porn punish sex.

Don't forget there is lots of these tricky female agents. They will talk you down to have sex with them.

Perverted babysitter club - for all the girls not doing what they are told to. Are you brave enough?

By the 21st century, the lingerie market transitioned into underwear serving a dual purpose, innerwear worn as outerwear (Dessous-dessus). Jill Fields saw the division between male and female dress fundamental to clothing design. Her view was that this distinctive apparel played a central role in constructing gender differences in society. Her view was that clothing provided a rich arena that explored how feminine and masculine identities took shape and was ever changing over time. The overall view was that gender identities took place within a social order and gender-based inequalities existed. As a result, men’s and women’s experiences of getting dressed was different in more ways than one and female clothing choices had been historically a greater concern in controlling the sexuality of the female body. The modern technology of lingerie was not only affected by these views, but shaped over time.

With fabrics ever changing and updating, the lingerie market was driven by modern technologies and innovative products. Designers began to focus more on fashion and style providing molded T-shirt bras and laser-cut seamless bras made of laces and luxurious fabrics. Bras accounted for 56 percent of lingerie sales while briefs and underwear represented 29 percent of the market. The total market was estimated at 9 billion by 2003. Victoria’s Secret is now known as the world largest lingerie retailer and operates exclusively in North America with a fragmented market in Europe.

Merl Storr of Feminist Review describes lingerie as the most intimate form of dress. She stresses that the type of underwear known as ‘lingerie’ is mainly invested in femininity, sexuality, and pleasure. Her conclusion is that buying lingerie involve identifications and dis-identifications of class, gender, and sexuality. She acknowledges that the garments are rarely if ever worn in public places (2). From the mid-1990’s to now, women have had the opportunity to select from different fabrics, colors, bra sizes, cuts, and fits. The perfect bra is manufactured and available in just about any size or cup. Fashion and proper bras size and fitting have been a conversation of interest in the media and hence the need for proper bra fitting has become a must before purchase.

Rebecca Felsenthal Stewart stressed the importance of wearing and properly fitting shapewear. As a result of different levels of shaping, smoothing and slimming she emphasized the importance of choosing the right shapewear. She shared, “Although you can buy shapewear online, it's worth it to go to a store to try on several brands and styles. If you're buying for a particular dress or outfit, bring it with you. A quick hip and waist measurement can help you make sure you're looking at the right size.”

In 1965, Cosmopolitan Magazine had sagging sales until the editor-in-chief, Helen Gurley Brown, transformed the magazine into a sexy women’s magazine packed with decadent lingerie. 2015 opened with Hannah Orenstein and Gabrielle Hurwitz doing an article for Cosmopolitan Magazine titled 27 Years of Women Wearing Underwear in "Cosmo" (NSFW). The goal was to take the readers back in time with a look at the most gorgeous lingerie looks from past decades. The timeframes spanned between the 70’s, 80’s and 90’s. The end result of the article was a look-down memory lane on how the lingerie industry had evolved to what it is today. The latest issue of the thriving magazine catapulted society into a glimpse of Fifty Shades of Grey.
